Bridging Cultures and Innovation Through Stage Technology
On May 19, 2025, in Yinchuan, Ningxia, the 12th China-Arab Stage Technology Workshop kicked off—bringing together 17 top stage tech professionals from seven Arab countries, including Egypt, the UAE, Morocco, and Qatar. This unique 13-day training program spanned two cities, Yinchuan and Guangzhou, focusing on everything from directing and stage design to lighting and sound.
Hosted by the Ningxia Department of Culture and Tourism and organized by the Yinchuan Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television, the workshop combined theory, hands-on practice, and a showcase of cultural experiences like digital calligraphy—letting participants dive deep into China’s rich heritage.
“Our program blends classroom learning with real-world practice and cultural immersion,” said Yi Yuping, President of the Yinchuan Stage Design Association. “We’re proud to offer Arab friends a true taste of Chinese culture alongside cutting-edge stage tech.”
The journey continued in Guangzhou, where participants visited the 2025 Guangzhou International Performing Arts Equipment Expo—exploring China’s latest breakthroughs in stage equipment manufacturing.
The workshop’s grand finale took place on May 29 in Guangzhou, hosted by Guangdong Vocational College of Arts and backed by the China Institute of Stage Design and the Yinchuan Stage Design Association.
The event featured a spectacular lineup blending culture and technology:
Traditional Cantonese opera with elegant sleeve movements, showcasing Lingnan culture
Vibrant ethnic dances displaying China’s rich multicultural heritage
Modern Latin dance paired with a female vocal quartet, creating a dazzling cross-cultural performance
Liu Fengshu, President of the Guangdong Stage Art Research Association, praised the workshop:
“This isn’t just about technology exchange—it's a powerful symbol of the friendship and cultural ties between China and the Arab world.”
The event set a solid foundation for ongoing collaboration in stage arts between China and Arab countries.
A major highlight was the strategic partnership signed between Shinestage and Algeria’s Medea Art & Culture Co. This deal marks Shinestage’s official debut in the North African market—introducing their smart stage trusses and advanced mechanical control systems.
Smart Truss Systems with IoT-enabled real-time stress monitoring to keep large stages safe
Lightweight Aluminum Alloy Structures, cutting weight by 40% compared to steel—perfect for quick tours in desert climates
Modular Stage Solutions capable of assembling a 1,000-person stage in just 24 hours
This partnership not only expands Chinese stage tech exports but also embeds Shinestage’s integrated “truss + smart control” system into Algeria’s cultural infrastructure—boosting the local performing arts industry.
Amir Tadros, Advisor to Egypt’s Minister of Culture, shared his thoughts after inspecting the technology:
“China’s stage tech is impressively precise and adaptable. This opens exciting new doors for upgrading theaters across the Arab world.”
Since launching in 2012 under the China-Arab Cooperation Forum, the program has:
Trained nearly 400 stage tech professionals from 14 Arab countries
Seen Shinestage’s systems used in iconic projects like the Egyptian Pyramids Light & Sound Show and the Qatar World Cup Fan Festival
Helped establish the Desert Climate Stage Safety Standards, a groundbreaking guideline led by the China Institute of Stage Design
Amir Tadros, a seasoned visitor to China, remarked:
“The sophistication of Chinese stage technology is astonishing. I look forward to sharing these advances back home and driving even broader China-Arab cooperation.”
As China-Arab stage technology partnerships enter a new decade, Shinestage is poised to:
Launch a China-Arab Stage Technology Joint Lab for climate-tailored product development
Deepen project implementation with Medea Art & Culture in Algeria, delivering full-cycle stage engineering services
Play a key role in setting Arab national theater standards, making Chinese technology the gold standard in the region
From Yinchuan to Guangzhou, from lightweight truss structures to smart stage control systems, Shinestage is driving innovation that lights up the Belt and Road Initiative’s cultural landscape.
When Algerian theaters light up with Shinestage’s technology, it’s more than a show—it’s a lasting symbol of China-Arab friendship and collaboration.
